New York City - Day 0ne

We've had a full day today and I have to say that there is nothing like New York at Christmas.

We woke up early to a beautiful sunny morning after rain last night and headed right down to the 9/11 Memorial. We did not really know what to expect but were very impressed. The main tower is coming right along and is a beautiful building. There are two water features that are built in the footprints of the original towers. The names of all those who died that day are carved into the railing. It's still a work in progress but they have done a nice job of honoring the tragic event.

From there we walked over to Highline park which is an elevated rail line that has been turned into a park. Nice use of space and way to preserve a part of New York History.

We lunched at Boucheon near Central Park - delish! From there we walked around and checked out the window displays of some of the department stores.

We headed back to the condo for a much needed nap before heading out for dinner and to see War Horse.

Dinner was Italian - Il Vilion and recommended by a friend of Bill's. It was really good!

The highlight of the day was War Horse. It was amazing! The play is done with puppets as the horses and is basically about a young man and his horse in WWI - the movie version is set to come out in Christmas Day. If it's any where near as good as the play it will be awesome!

We walked to Rockefeller Center following the play and checked out the tree and the ice skating rink before heading to DelFrisco's Grille for a night cap!

It was a great day! We are looking forward to tomorrow! I'm planning on getting up and going for a run in the morning. Not sure what we will do during the day - perhaps a bit of shopping but the highlight will be seeing Book of Mormon tomorrow night.

Later - Jim

  2. Dad and I enjoyed your day almost as much as you did. The Top hats were great, I don't want to pick favorites, but Kent looked pretty darn outstanding. He would do well in London. Bill won in the stocking hat division, and of course overall talent; ah what can I say he is his Mothers Son! Thank you so much for a peek at New York.Enjoy the rest of your visit. Love M&D
