I'm Still Here!

It all started with getting sick three weeks ago and from there it all went down hill! I was 6 weeks into my training for the Boston Marathon and have lost three weeks of training. The good news is I am well on the road to recovery and back to training. The Marathon is 7 weeks from today! Here are a few pictures from a recent run along Lake Washington. One of my favorite places to run!

Yesterday Kent and I both went on a long run around Lake Union. I did not take any pictures however.

Next week we are heading to LA for our annual trip to the PAC-10 Tournament. Looking forward to it and hoping the weather is great. It's been cold and snowy here! The picture below was taken last Thursday.

Last night we went to the Husky basketball game against WSU. The Dawgs lost big time! They looked terrible. It will be interesting to see if they can pull it together for their final two home games and then for the tournament.

Missed the Academy Awards for the first time in many years due to the game. After the loss we witnessed, it's clear that we made the wrong choice! We had been invited to an Oscar Party and had to back out after we remembered that we had a game that night. Most of my choices did well - loved The Kings Speech and Colin Firth and Natalie Portman!

Finally can't end without sharing a few pictures of the pups.

Have a great week!

Matthew Knight Arena

Third loss in a row for the Dawgs! It was close up to the end but the Dawgs were never able to take charge of the game.

Nice to check out yet another basketball arena.

Matthew Knight Arena

Traveled to Portland last night. Of course we snuck the dogs along!

We made it to Eugene today for a basketball game as the Dawgs take on the Ducks at the new Matthew Knight Arena.

Nice place! It's going to be a hostile crowd! Go

Road to Boston - Week 5 Training Update

Each week the days get longer and my runs end with just a little more daylight.  I can't believe that I'm already fie weeks into the training for Boston.  I really need to get serious about making travel arrangements - I've not done anything yet other than talk about it.  We are considering flying into New York and taking the train up to Boston so we can get a train ride in at the same time.

Okay - now a summary of this week's miles -

Monday – January 24, 2011 - rest
Tuesday - January 25, 2011 – 7.30 - hills
Wednesday – January 26, 2011 – 8.08 - speed
Thursday – January 27, 2011 – 8.13 - easy
Friday – January 28, 2011 – 11.0
Saturday – January 29, 2011 – rest
Sunday – January 30, 2011 – 20.3 long run

Weekly total: 54.81

Cumulative total: 226.08

Here is a map of may last long run of 20.3 miles.  It's the first time that I ran north from our place and up to the airport.  I have found one drawback to the Nike Plus system.  It drained my iPhone and by mile 18.8 the iPhone died.  I guess I'll be using the Garmin after all for the long runs.

Hard to believe that as I write this I'm only two runs away from completing week six!  Boston is coming right up!
