This is a draft of a post that I wrote several weeks ago that I never posted. So much has occurred since then.
You know Kent and I lived in our current house that we love for 13 years! Longer than I have ever lived in one place in my entire life. Long enough to totally update it, paint it twice, see trees grow from 8 to 30 feet, see all but one neighbor on our street come and go and most time enough to pay it off! It's bitter sweet to think of leaving it. If we could we would take our home and place it in a new neighborhood. There are two reason behind our decision to relocate to the city. One - although we love our house we are not as fond of the neighborhood. We have totally awesome neighbors on all sides of us. The kind that lookout for one another and check in on each others places, take in garbage cans for each other and still give each other space. The overall area has gone downhill over the years. We have an abandoned house down the street and several rentals in which the yards are not well tended. That's not the main reason however. The bigger thing is that we wanted a lifestyle change. We spend all our time in Seattle socializing, I work downtown and finally and most important we have season tickets for both basketball and football and spend a ton of time at the UW. Our new place is literally a 13 min walk to the stadium.
We have a ton of things to do over the next several weeks. We had planned on taking a few days next week and going for a short driving trip. Instead we will take the time to get our house ready to go on the market next week. It's all the sudden happening so fast! Our realtor is coming over tonight to help us stage the house and give us ideas on all the things we need to do to get the house ready for market. Thankfully we have been doing things all along. It's going to be a busy next couple months!
The inspection of the new house is scheduled for Monday. We are not planing on there being any major issues but we have a list of things we already know we want to update. The first being putting up a fence for the dogs. We also want to convert the furnace from oil to gas. The kitchen is nice and big - it's clean but it needs updating. Not sure if we will do that right away or wait
