Procession of Species Parade

It's one of our favorite annual events - traveling to Olympia for the Procession parade. This year was no exception. We had a great time and as usual the entries were terrific. No motorized entries and no commercial. Makes for a great parade.

Thankfully the rain held off until the parade was over. Afterwards we had dinner at Oyster House and did a bit of shopping.

Highly recommend you check it out some year. They also have Art Walk going on so lots to see and do!

Dubs and Me

Nice surprise today at a UW Husky baseball game and Dubs made a surprise visit to the clubhouse!

Since we moved to our new neighborhood we are literally 1/2 mile walk from the Husky baseball field! We have club access so even in the bad weather we have enjoyed the games. We are excited that next season we will be in a new stadium that will be built over the off season.

Living near the UW we end going to a lot more sports events than ever!

Back to the game -

Savannah Trip

It's time to wind down our Savannah trip and head home. We leave tomorrow and get home in time to have a few hours to relax before turning around and going back to work.

Glad the whole Boston incident is over - what drama. Time for healing and accountability. I thought it was cool to see news accounts of people celebrating in the streets following the capture of the second guy. It reminded me of the celebrations in the streets of Seattle election night when gay marriage passed in WA. Although I ran Boston in 2011, I'm interested in qualifying to run again and being a part of it again in the next few years! Guess I'll concentrate now on my next marathon which is Boise next month.

Anyway back to our Savannah weekend. We had a great time in Savannah. It's a lovely place with all the Squares and beautiful old homes.

We of course visited the Mercer House - the former home of Jim Williams - made famous from the book - Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. That book was the first gift Kent gave me for my 34th birthday after we had been dating just over a month in 1997. Great book - terrible movie. Last time we were in Savannah the house was not open to tours. This time it was so we were able to see the room where the murder took place!

We spent most of our time in old town and on the first evening went on a ghost walking tour.

On Friday we went over to South Carolina to Ft. Pulaski and to Beaufort.

We went to see Oblivion after going out to dinner. We have some great meals!

We both took advantage of the weather and got in a couple good runs. This morning was 7 miles along the river and back around to the park.

As usual we went to the local farmers market before heading out of town.

We decided that since we have never been to Augusta that we would drive back to Atlanta for our flight home tomorrow via Augusta. While there we took in a canal tour which we really enjoyed!

Planning on getting into Atlanta on time to have an Italian dinner before calling it an evening.

It's been a great trip but we are both looking forward to getting home to see our pups.

Time to Celebrate!

One of the things we are celebrating in Savannah is the fact that we sold our house last week! It's been a long road but now the search and purchase of our new house and now finally the sale of our old house is now complete! Time to start some remodel projects in our new house.

This was a nice email notification to receive yesterday:

Savannah - Lovely Savannah

It's been 16 years since Kent and I first traveled to Savannah. It's a wonderfully relaxing and extremely beautiful place to visit. This morning we went for a run through each of the 20 some squares (parks) located throughout the city. Great way to start the day.

Here's our route and a few pictures of the various parks.

What Ever Happened to Jim V.?

Well I'm still here believe it or not! Keeping up a blog is ridiculously challenging for me. I've got so much to say and little time to write it down. So as opposed to going into a lot of detail and excuses about why I've not blogged I'll just start blogging from here!

I'm actually writing this post on a flight in route to Atlanta where I'll meet Kent who is at a conference and we will spend several days in Savannah.

What made me decide to blog today is two things - one we finally sold our old house - it closed today. We could not be more excited for the new owners. I dropped off a welcome gift for them this morning in my last visit to he house.

They picked a great house full of many happy memories!

The other thing that made me want to post was the wonderful run I went on this morning. We moved to a location that has the best running opportunities in the City of Seattle! I'm so blessed! More about that later!

It's great to be back!
