New Husky Stadium!

It's just before 7am on Sunday August 25th and Kent and I are still in bed as we wake up at Peterson's Waterfront.

We are on vacation at one of our favorite places to relax - its our annual week at Lake Chelan! I woke up early because I knew there was to be a special section in today's Seattle Times about our new football stadium! This is going to be a picture heavy post just because I'm so excited about the start of the season in our new field!

This picture is actually from yesterday - it's now only 6 days until kickoff! What makes this season so exciting is not only the new stadium, it's the first year in our new house that the Huskies will play at home. Last season we played at Quest Field while the new stadium was under construction. Last year at this time Kent and I had purchased our new home but we had not taken full occupancy yet. This is the first year we will return from the lake to Laurelhurst! We moved to our new neighborhood largely in part due to its proximity to Husky Stadium!

It's been an exciting first year of living in the city. We find ourselves exhausted with all the activities! Between working on our house, kayaking in Union Bay running or biking the Burke Gilman Trail and exploring all the neighborhoods the city has to offer we have a pretty full schedule! Not sure how we fit in taking care of our pups, work and friends!

Although the original landscaping had it's charm, we really wanted a bit more color and softer trees at the entry. What a difference a year makes! We have done a lot to our house in the first year. I'll have to do an entire post on that in the future. Next up is a complete remodel of the kitchen! We already have the plans and the range and refrigerator and we meet with the contractor a week from tomorrow! I can't wait!

Back to my original post! The new Husky Stadium! The following is from a special section in today's Seattle Times.

Note in the picture above that I have identified where our new seats will be! Section 129, on the 50 yard line, 19 rows up from the field! So sad for the students to be moved from their old section but yeah for us! I've sat in the old student section with the band for a few games back in the early 90's - it's awesome!

For now its back to a week of relaxing at the lake before heading into a great opening weekend of football in less than one week!

Have a good one -

Jim
